Abzi’s Story is about documenting us. It’s about telling the stories that make up our lives from the momentous events to the tiny details of our everyday.
I adore photography and this blog can be quite photo heavy. I regularly undertake photography challenges to push myself creatively. I believe it is really important to print photographs and make them more accessible in our homes. I am on the Project Life 2016 Creative Team.
Another love of mine is family history. As much as I believe it is important to document our stories, I think we need to know those who have paved the way for us. I grew up hearing stories about my Grandpa’s childhood and want my future children to know their history too.
I am also a huge bookworm. I am always reading something. I read quite widely but I fell in love with war literature during my English Literature A level and never fell out of love. I am also a fan of classics. Picking a favourite book is ridiculously tough but if I absolutely had to choose, today it would probably be ‘North and South’ by Elisabeth Gaskell.
In the past I have struggled with my health. I was diagnosed with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis at the age of nineteen and the doctor believed it went undetected from about the age of eight. Occasionally I write about M.E. But if I’m having a bad time health wise it normally means I’m curled up watching Gilmore Girls so it isn’t all bad.
My Handsome Man
Dane is My Handsome Man. He is the creative writer of the family and the reason we are currently in Vancouver as he is studying screenwriting for film and television out here.
He is well and truly a movie geek. Among so many others, he admires the work of Christopher Nolan. Dane also has a large collection of movie related t-shirts which he continually adds to.
Dane is a reader and has recently started exploring the world of Graphic Novels. His favourite books include anything by Tolkien and the Shakespeare Star Wars series. He is a Lord of the Rings geek and regularly watches the movies in all their extended glory. He has an extensive blu-ray collection and an ever growing list of movies (and graphic novels) to buy.
He loves sports, especially football and is a Manchester United fan.
He spent two years living in Albania and was fluent in Albanian, though his language skills are rusty now due to lack of use – there aren’t many people around who speak Albanian.
